How
Do You See Yourself?
The
Bible speaks of two Adams; it speaks of the first man Adam and then
it speaks of the second man Adam—this second Adam is also called
'the last Adam.' It lets us know that all human beings have
their ancestry and descent from either one of these two men.
When
a human being is first born into this world, they're born from the
lineage and parentage of the first Adam; they descend from him both
spiritually and physically. But the Bible lets us know that just over
2000 years ago, a second and last (final) Adam came into this world
and changed the course of human beings and the future forever; He
made it possible for human beings to be reborn and renewed so that
they would have His spiritual nature and trace back to Him! This is
what it says: “Thus it is written, The first man Adam became
a living being (an individual personality); the last Adam (Christ)
became a life-giving Spirit [restoring the dead to life]. But it is
not the spiritual life which came first, but the physical and then
the spiritual. The first man [was] from out of earth, made of dust
(earthly-minded); the second Man [is] the Lord from out of heaven.
Now those who are made of the dust are like him who was first made of
the dust (earthly-minded); and as is [the Man] from heaven, so also
[are those] who are of heaven (heavenly-minded). And just as we have
borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so let us also
bear the image [of the Man] of heaven. (1
Corinthians 15:44-49 Amplified Bible)
This
segment of the Bible lets us know who each man is and where they came
from. It reveals to us that the first man Adam is the first human
being that was created by God in the garden of Eden; and
the second man Adam is '...the
Lord from out of heaven...'
that's Jesus Christ, the
Son of God who came from Heaven to earth, and became a human being!
Why
did God bring a second Adam into the world? Wasn't the first one
enough?
The
reason God brought another Adam into the world is because He wanted
to save the human race from eternal judgment, destruction and
punishment—and
because He wanted to do this, He needed
to bring a second Adam into the world. The first Adam had died a
spiritual death because of his sin against God, and he had lost the
nature of God which he was created with, he had taken upon himself an
evil spiritual nature of sin: and because this man and his wife had
both sinned and taken on this sinful nature, all of their children
(that
is the whole world)
were born with that same nature. The
Bible says, “
